| About the band
-The band was founded 1994 by four lads with the mutual interest of making a lot of noise. -We started with the motto:"The main thing is to amuse our selves and if we amuse anybody else that is just a bonus". We still have this as our motto. -It has been told about us that we play punk-music. We just say that we play music. However, there are some tendency towards punk that is in the lifestyle and ideals. We have for example always done everything by ourselvs that is things like concerts and releases and we have not been afraid to speak out the "truth". -The name Orkuml means some kind of handicap (mainly mental) and we have been accused to have a very bad taste and people have even gone so far to call us the lowest of the low but of course we don´t give a fuck. -The music taste of the band members has much variety. There is different kind of artists that we like. Artists like Elvis Presley, Nick Cave, Lee Haselwood, Tom Waits, Dick Dale and bands like the Dog Faced Herman´s, Crass, Boredom´s, Abba, Conflict, Chumbawamba, the Ex, Dead Kennedy´s, Metallica (just our guitar player), the Beatles and of course a lot more. Then there is naturally a large number of Icelandic artists and bands, like Purkur pilnikk, Fræbbblarnir, Megas, Utangarðsmenn, Sykurmolarnir (The Sugarcubes), Kuml, Forgarður helvítis, Mínus, bisund, Saktmóðigur, Sólstafir, Roð, Stilluppsteypa, Gunnar Jökull, Curver and of course a lot more. |
