Location
Hafaldan Hostel is located in Seydisfjord on the east coast of Iceland. That's as far away from the capital Reykjavik as one can get.
Coming on the ferry
you will arrive right here!
During the summer the Ferry Norrona arrives every Thursday from Europe and provides a spectacular entry to this colourful town. For detailed information on the ferry schedule contact Smyril Line, Faroe Islands.
Coming by plane, bus or car
It takes one hour to fly from Reykjavik to Egilsstadir, our neighbor town. There is scheduled bus transfer, twice daily from Egilsstadir airport to Seydisfjord and back.
For detailed information on flight connections contact Icelandair.
If you decide to take the bus from Reykjavik instead, be prepared for a 2-days journey of 750 km, either the north- or the south route, so it might be smarter to include your visit to Seydisfjord on a roundtrip. BSÍ Travel offers bus passes with various options as well as up-to-date infos on schedules and more.
If you arrive by boat, beware of the trend (inspired by an excitement to get going) of rushing away from the East Coast the moment you arrive. Countless travellers have returned to Seydisfjord the night before their ferry, only to realise that they have missed out one of the most beautiful corners of Iceland in their rush to set off on arrival.
Why not stay in the east for a few days at the start of your trip?
Looking forward to seeing you!
