The Rock Ptarmigan in Summer plumage. The female Rock Ptarmigan takes on its summer plumage in late May, but the male only a month later. The stock of the Rock Ptarmigan fluctuates greatly, it is not known why, but the cycle is 8-11 years.
Length is about 36 cms - about 14 inches.
The stamp was issued in 1965 with a face value of 3.50 krónur + 50 aurar.
