Brandugla - Short-eared Owl
Asio flammeus

Short-eared Owl - Brandugla

The Short-eared Owl started nesting in Iceland in 1912, and has since then spread almost all over the country, but even so the Short-eared Owl is not a common bird in Iceland. The Short-eared Owl is mainly a day hunter, when its usual prey is field mice.
Length is about 38 cms - about 15 inches.

The stamp was issued in 1987 with a face value of 13 krónur.
