The smallest Bird of Prey living in Iceland, the Merlin is a very efficient hunter, mainly cathcing its prey on the wing. Small birds, even as large as pigeons, are the main diet of the Merlin. Length is about 29 cms - about 11 inches.
The stamp was issued in 1986 with a face value of 12 krónur.
