The Mallard drake, shown on this stamp, is much more colourful
than the female of the species,
which is a common trait among most of the ducks.
The Mallard is spread all over Iceland,
and is a resident all year round.
Length is about 56 cms - about 22 inches.

The stamp was issued in 1987 with a face value of 90 krónur.
