Gannet - Sula

The Gannet is a great diver, and catches fish by plunging head first
into the ocean and catches the fish in its beak.
The Gannet has binocular vision as both eyes are at the front of
the head, and it can close its breathing and hearing orifices.
The nest is made of seaweed on a rocky ledge and is
glued together with droppings.
Length is about 95 cms - about 37 inches.

The stamp was issued in 1991 with a face value of 100 krónur.
Artist: Þröstur Magnússon
Printed in Heliogravure by Courvoisier.
