Terrell Anthony was Rusty Shayne from 1986 to 1989, then in 1996, he came back to Springfield for H.B.'s memorial. When Rusty first arrived in town, he got involved with Mindy Lewis, but their relationship was doomed when the drug addict Rose McLaren entered the picture. Mindy was very jealous and later she fled all the way to Venezuela to be with her father. Rose wasn't anything but trouble at first and her evil boyfriend Nick Sutton framed Rusty for possession of drugs. Rusty was fired from the force. He then kidnapped Rose from Ceders to protect her from Nick. The reason Rose was in hospital was because Nick had given her an overdose of drugs, trying to kill her. When Mindy came back from Venezuela she helped Rusty clear his name but lost him over to Rose in the process. Mindy then got involved with Will Jeffries and later they got married. Rusty and Rose also got married in a double ceremony with Hawk and Sarah.

Later Mindy and Will broke up so Will kidnapped Marah Shayne to win her back. He left Marah with his unstable mother but Rose figured out what Will was up to. She confronted him about this and they got into a fight. Sadly, Rose hit her head on a rock and died. Rusty was sure that Will was the murderer but the charges were dismissed because they were only circumstantial evidence. He and Mindy gasligted Will but when he figured it out, he drugged Mindy, holding her at gunpoint. Rusty shot Will and almost lost Mindy, but Josh saved her. Rusty went to Tulsa to become chief of detective but Mindy stayed behind. I personally really miss Rusty and I would very much like to see him again on Guiding Light. I'm sure many of you agree with me.
