Mindy Lewis

Mindy Lewis has been portrayed by four different actresses. The first Mindy was the great Krista Tesreau (pictured here). Krista was Mindy from 1983 to 1988. The next Mindy was Kimberly Simms and she was Mindy from 1989 to 1992 and then again in 1997. Then there was Ann Hamilton who was Mindy for a short time in 1993. The last Mindy was Barbara Crampton and she was Mindy from 1993 to 1995. To me, Krista Tesreau is the only Mindy however and I'm sure that many of you agree with me.

When Mindy arrived in Springfield with her father, she started dating Phillip Spaulding. Mindy thought that Phillip didn't pay her enough attention however so she faked an accident. Mindy's roommate in the hospital was Beth Raines. Phillip soon fell in love with Beth and of course that made Mindy very jealous. Beth and Phillip soon admitted their true feelings for each other at the stables but when poor Beth was raped, she rejected Phillip. Phillip turned to Mindy again and Mindy soon got pregnant. When Phillip and Beth ran off to New York, Rick and Mindy followed them. When they were all back in town, Rick convinced her to pass the baby on as his and marry him. Mindy agreed but at the wedding ceremony, Billy Lewis interrupted. He wanted to know why Mindy hadn't told Phillip about his own child. When Phillip found out about the baby, he married Mindy though he really loved Beth. Mindy eventually lost the baby and she and Phillip got a divorce.

Mindy then fell in love with Alexandra's son Lujack Spaulding, but he was only interested in Beth. Rick however got involved with Roxie Shayne leaving poor Mindy all alone. In order to hang on to Rick, Mindy brought Roxie's abusive boyfriend to Springfield. Then Mindy turned to Kyle Sampson who was only using her for information. Kyle believed that he was Billy's brother and H.B.'s son but he wasn't. When Mindy found out about this vendetta Kyle had against her father, she shot him. Mindy later found out that Kyle was really her uncle. Well, Mindy soon fell in love with Roxie's ex-husband Kurt (played by Mark Lewis) from Alaska and they made plans to get married. Kurt was an illegal alien from Canada and needed a "Green Card" to stay in the states, which he didn't have. To keep Kurt in the country, Roxie married him. The immigration officials gave Kurt the Green Card and his marriage to Roxie was annulled. Mindy and Kurt finally got married and planned to live happily ever after.

Mindy, Beth and Roxie then entered the Sampson Girl contest and of course Mindy won. Mindy signed a no pregnancy contract which was very important to her Sampson Girl career. When Kurt found out about this, he totally flipped out, but eventually forgave her. Kurt then began building a house for him and his wife. One night when Mindy found Kurt and Roxie in each other's arms sleeping, she jumped to the wrong conclusion. She ran out of the house and knocked over a kerosene lamp wich set fire to the house. The house burned down but Kurt and Roxie were rescued. When Kurt found out that it was Mindy that had burned down the house, he left for Venezuela. Mindy was very upset but decided to forgive her husband. When she decided to go to Venezuela to be with Kurt, there had already been an accident. An oil rig had exploed and Kurt died. It took Mindy some time to get over the loss of her husband but when she did recover she got involved with Roxie's brother Rusty Shayne.

Mindy soon found out that she and Rusty weren't meant for each other so they broke up. Rusty was more interested in Rose McLaren's personal problems anyway. Mindy got involved with Frank Cooper but that was a very short and uneventfull relationship. Mindy's next romance was Will Jeffries. They got married but when Mindy found out that Will was crazy, she disappeared, leaving Will furious at her. In order to win her back, Will kidnapped Marah Shayne and left her with his mother Anita Ybarra. Rusty and Rose then got married. Poor Rose however was killed in a fight with Will. Rusty was sure that Will had killed her but he didn't have enough evidence. Mindy then returned to Springfield and Rusty convinced her to help him get Will arrested. Will found out that Mindy was gaslighting him so he drugged her, holding her at gunpoint. Rusty however saved her and shot Will. Rusty then left Springfield to become chief of detective but Mindy stayed behind. I personally miss Rusty very much and I'd like to see him again on Guiding Light.

In 1990, Mindy got involved with Rick again. At this time Mindy was also carrying on with Roger Thorpe. Mindy soon found out that Roger was wrong for her and she realized how much she really loved Rick. She broke up with Roger and planned on marrying Rick. Rick married Beth however so Mindy got involved with Mallet. Roger wanted to marry Mindy but he was already married to Alexandra. Mindy then found out that she was carrying Roger's baby. Mindy lost the baby and finally dumped Roger. Mindy's next romance was Alexandra's other son Nick McHenry. Mindy was in New York when she first met him. When she returned to Springfield, he followed her. He started working at Spaulding but it was destroying his relationship with Mindy so he got a job at the Journal. Alexandra did everything she could to break up Mindy and Nick and she ordered Mindy out of town right before her wedding. Nick then got involved with his old girlfriend Eve.

Eve however went cracy and drugged Mindy. Mindy was saved but Nick broke up with his unstable girlfriend. At this time Mindy got involved with Macauley West. Macauley wanted Mindy to go to Chicaco with him but she didn't want to go. Nick and Mindy then got back together and finally got married. Mindy however walked out on him when he started spending more time on business then her. To everyone's surprice, Alexandra told Nick to try to save his marriage to Mindy but it just didn't work out. Mindy left for Europe to work on a fashion line and soon Nick left town too. Mindy returned again in 1997 for H.B.'s memorial but went away again after the service. I still miss Mindy and I'd like to see her again. Guiding Light just isn't the same without her.
