When Maureen came to Springfield in 1982, she was being played by Ellen Dolan. In 1986, Ellen Parker took over the role of Maureen and didn't leave Guiding Light until 1993 when Maurren died. Maureen is Bea Reardon's daughter and has always been the good one. In 1983, Maureen and Ed got married. They were very good together and befriended Fletcher Reade and Claire Ramsey who were dating at the time. Maureen and Ed didn't have any problems until "the Beirut saga". Fletcher flew to Beirut and Claire, Maureen and Ed followed him. When they had been there for some time, Ed and Claire received word that both Fletcher and Maureen were assumed dead because of a bomb. Ed and Claire thought they were dead so they made love. But of course Maureen and Fletcher came back. When they were all back in Springfield, Claire found out that she was pregnant. Ed also discovered that Fletcher had had a vasectomy so he couldn't be the baby's father. Ed realized the baby was his. He and Maureen broke up and so did Fletcher and Claire. After Michelle was born, Maureen forgave her husband and they got back together.
At this time Claire was beginning to neglect her baby so Ed and Maureen fought custody of little Michelle. After much convincing Claire finally turned custody over to them. Now Ed and Maureen had Michelle all to themselves. Claire however got married to her docter Mark Jarrett and in 1986, they left town. Fletcher got involved with the great Maeve Stoddard and later they got married. Now all of Maureen and Ed's problems were over. But in 1992 Ed got involved with nurse Lillian Raines who was overcoming breast cancer. Ed had been her doctor and started developing feelings for her. Ed and Lillian had a one night stand, then Ed ended the whole thing. Maureen found a letter that Lillian wrote to Ed.She read it and confronted Ed about it at the cabin. Then Maureen rushed out and drove off. She wanted to be alone and think for awhile but got into a horrible car accident which caused her her life. Now Michelle blames Ed and Lillian for her mom's death.
