Johnny Bauer

James Goodwin was Johnny Bauer from 1986 to 1990. When he arrived in Springfield, he soon got involved with the great Roxie Shayne. They were very good together but unfortunately they broke up when Johnny's ex-girlfriend Christine Valer arrived in Springfield. Johnny and Christine started dating again but Johnny's heart was still with Roxie. Christine was married when she and Johnny were involved in France but that didn't stop a woman like Christine. Her husband was Paul Valer and he and Alan Spaulding were in the black art marked. When Johnny and Christine started dating in Springfield, Paul soon came to collect his wife who turned out to be still married to Paul. Johnny was furious when he found out about this and they broke up. Paul was also angry that his wife was still cheating on him and with the same man. Paul hated Johnny so much that he considered killing him but thankfully Christine stopped him.

Johnny and Roxie started dating again and were very happy until Christine's husband was killed. Both Johnny and Christine had been in Paul's room the night he was killed so now they were the prime-suspects. Johnny went to hiding so the police wouldn't find him. Alan hid Christine in the Spaulding cottage, believing she was the murderer. The police found out that Alan and Paul had been partners in crime so now he was the prime-suspect. That gave Johnny and Christine some time. But the real killer turned out to be Warren Andrews Paul's secret partner. Johnny and Christine got off the hook and Warren went to jail. Soon after that Christine left town and Johnny and Roxie could finally be happy.

Johnny opened his own flight center and proposed to Roxie. Roxie accepted and they soon moved in together. But their happyness was brief because soon Johnny was diagnosed with cancer. Johnny's cousen Rick was his doctor along with Meredith Reade. Johnny began pushing Rick and Roxie together, knowing their past together. Johnny was also sure that when he would die, Rick would take care of Roxie for him. The pressure of dealing with Johnny's cancer was to much for Roxie however and she had a nervous breakdown. Roxie was institutionalized in a hospital near Chicago. But Johnny however suddenly got completely cured. Johnny had not just beaten cancer but he also had powers to heal others. Johnny went to Chicago to be with Roxie but when he saw how bad the situation was he backed off. At this time Johnny's parent Jack and Lainie Bauer were in town.

Johnny's next romance was Chelsea Reardon. They had a wonderful and a very popular relationship. They moved in together and were planning a future together. At Chelsea and Johnny's wedding, Chelsea collapsed. She had been poisoned by someone. Frank Cooper's girlfrien Dana was accused of this and eventually she was arrested. Dana figured out that a woman named Rea was the one responsible, but before she could go to the authorities, Rea got to her and hurt her badly. Rea went to prison for trying to shoot Chelsea and Chealsea and Johnny went on with their wedding plans. At this time Johnny received word that Roxie was making progress in her treatment. Chelsea realized that Johnny was still in love with Roxie so she broke up the engagement. Then Johnny left Springfield to be with his true love. Chelsea also left town but to focus on her singing career.
