Holly Lindsey

In the year of 1970, a brand new family came to Springfield whose prescence still continues to this day. They were The Norris Family which consisted of Stanley Norris, a successful businessman and his three children. His son Ken who became a Lawyer, another son Andy who would have a volatile history in terms of domestic violence and his only daughter Holly Norris, whose gone through more ups and downs than any other character in Springfield but still continues to survive. The first Holly was played by actress Lynn Deerfield from 1970-1976 and the second Actress has been played by Maureen Garrett from 1976-1980 and from 1988 to the present.

She grew up with her brother Ken who would go on to be a lawyer and another brother Andy who would have a history of violence towads women, most notably Trish Lewis (of the Lewis Clan). So it was primarily her mother Barbara who had taken care of the family working as a syndicated cooking columnist. Holly had no relationship whatsoever with her father Stanley and little idea did she know that not having her father around would result in severe repurcussions that would continue even to this day. After graduating from High School, she chose to work at her father's Company instead of going to College much to her family's disappointment. She did this because she had wanted to get closer to her father but it was her father who would introduce her to a man named Adam Thorpe, who headed one of Stanley's New York Companies. Now Stanley had a son named Roger who was just finishing Business School and had gotten involved in many ill-fated business schemes.

However with the help of his father Adam and The Bauer Family, Roger was able to pay off his debts and got a job working as a Manager at The Metro, a popular Teen Club. When Holly first saw Roger, she fell madly in love with him but he had no interest in Holly initially. In fact, he only started dating her as part of a job requesite to work for Stanley Norris. He was also very schemish in the sense that he would do anything to anyone to get what he wanted. When Janet Mason married Holly's father Stanley, he tried to force himself on her but to no avail and when Holly saw Janet and Roger from a distance, she misunderstood and got hit by a car. As for Roger he had found the true love of his life. A woman named Peggy Fletcher who had a son named Johnny whom he loved like his own. As for Holly, she was treated at Cedars Hospital by Dr. Ed Bauer who took pity on her.

What started out as a relationship between doctor and patient soon developed into love but in reality, they were two souls who were together out of loneliness and not love. Holly was still upset over losing Roger and Ed had to deal with the humiliation of being a 30 year old divorced man living with his mother while his ex-wife was about to marry his big brother Mike. The two had dinner and Ed got drunk, and the two of them went to Las Vegas, NV where they were married. Ed wanted the marriage annulled but Holly told him that they consummated the marriage but they were doomed from the start. Upon returning to Springfield, they were met with skepticism from his Aunt Meta who saw Holly as a devious individual. Bert wasn't thrilled about her son's choice of a bride but she grudingly accepted it.

As time went on, Holly became more and more irritating and bored not realizing the long hours Ed put in as a Doctor. She had a wicked affair with Roger and when she got pregnant, she realized that the child was Roger's and not Ed's since the two hadn't been intimate for a long time. So she changed her ways and in 1975, a baby girl was born whom was named Christina Blake Bauer aka Blake. Things went smoothly but when Chrissy needed a blood transfusion, Ed's didn't match and Holly had to admit that Roger was indeed the real father of this child. Ed divorced her in anger and Peggy divorced Roger as well. Shortly aftewards, these two "outsiders" got married with only Bert Bauer and Adam Thorpe as witnesses. Life with Roger was unberable because he was still very insecure and threatened by Holly's relationship with Ed so in 1979, Roger brutally raped Holly. She decided to press charges with the encouragement of her former brother in law Mike Bauer and when the trial began, a hotshot new attorney named Ross Marler whose brother Justin Marler was a prominent doctor defended Roger.

For Holly, things went from bad to worse especially when Roger kidnapped her and held her at gunpoint in the jungles of Santa Deminco. Fortunately Ed and Mike found them and within time an ensuing fight began and Roger fell to his death or so everyone thought. As for Holly, she left Springfield for most of the 1980's, and lived in Europe. Upon returning, she made an appearance at the Wedding of Phillip Spaulding and Blake Lindsay, who was really her daughter. Blake as Christina was now known as, had become a Public Relations Executive, and had had a wicked affair with Alan and that would eventually mess things up between her and Phillip.

However, on the day of the Wedding, a unexpected surprise guest showed up. It was none other than Roger Thorpe himself and unfortunately, he would still continue to haunt Holly's life. When she tried to get into more stable relationships with other men, it never worked out. There was Daniel St. John, a psychotic doctor and there was Ross Marler as well but when her own daughter Blake seduced him and stole his love from her, Holly was devastated. She and Roger managed to start getting involved again after working out a lot of unresolved issues. They even co-jointly owned WSPR, the town's TV Station for a time.

However when Alex Spaulding got back at Roger for backstabbing her Holly had enough. Time and time again she forgave this man and he always hurt her so out of rage or vulnerability, she had sexual relations with her co-worker and partner Fletcher Reade of The Springfield Journal. They married a couple of months later and when Roger crashed the wedding she screamed "I love him, I'm going to marry him, and nothing you can do will stop it!" He acted like he didn't care but deep down he was devastated because she was the only woman he could ever really love and the saddest part for Holly was that it rang true with Roger.

Eventually the two had a child named Meg who was born with an extra chromosome which resulted in her having Down's Syndrome, a mental disorder. As time went on, her love for Roger never died so when Fletcher eventually left Springfield for Toronto so that Meg could attend a "Special School", Holly was crushed because she once again allowed her feelings for Roger to get in the way. Her daughter Blake's marriage to Ross has ended in disaster due to Blake's adulterous affair with Ross's half-brother Ben, she developed a drinking problem and she's became The Springfield Stalker. Now she is starting to show interest in Billy Lewis. I wonder how that's going to end. Stay tuned.
