Blake Thorpe has been portrayed by three different actresses. The first Blake was Elizabeth Dennehy. Elizabeth arrived on the scene in 1988 but left in 1989. Then the talented Sherry Stringfield (pictured here) took over the role of Blake. Sherry was Blake from 1989 to 1992. Blake is currently portrayed by Elizabeth Keifer and has been since 1992. Blake met Alan Spaulding in Mexico and he sent her to Springfield to spy on his son Phillip. Blake got a job at Spaulding and very soon, she started getting romantically involved with Phillip. Phillip told Blake that he had taken over the company illegally and she got his confession on tape and planned to give the tape to Alan. Alexandra found out about the tape and stopped her. Later Phillip found out about Blake's betrayal and dumped her. Blake felt very guilty and sad. She took an overdose of sleeping pills, trying to kill herself. Thankfully she was saved by Ed who turned out to by her ex-stepfather. Blake's mother Holly then rushed to Springfield to care for her dear daughter.
Phillip then found out that Blake had been sleeping with Alan. He got even more furious and completely disowned his father. With time, he forgave Blake and they got back together. Then they decided to get married! As Blake's ex lover and co-conspirator, Alan hated the idea and threatened Blake many times. She didn't let Alan's threats stop her, in fact she threatened him back. At Phillip and Blake's wedding ceremony, Alan shot Adam Malik who turned out to be Blake's father Roger Thorpe. Alan went to jail and told Phillip that Beth Raines might be alive. Beth was Phillip's old flame but everyone thought she was dead. The fact that Beth might be alive made Blake very insecure. Roger offered to find Beth for Phillip. He found the coroner's report that proved that the body in Beth's grave wasn't Beth's. Blake burned the report so Phillip wouldn't find out. Phillip got more and more obsessed with Beth and was sure she was still alive. Blake however kept telling him that it was all in his head. Then Beth's paintings started to show up in Springfield. Phillip didn't think about anything but Beth. He couldn't even make love to his wife. Blake grew so furious with Phillip's obsession that she slept with old flame Gary Swanson who was now working for Phillip.
Another new guy was working at Spaulding, named Neil Everest. He was living with Beth in a trailer and didn't want anyone to know that she was alive. Blake went to Neil's trailer and found Beth there. Beth had amnesia so she didn't know who she was. She couldn't even speak. Blake didn't tell Phillip that she had seen her and planned to move her out of Springfield without Phillip knowing she was alive. Holly found out about the coroner's report and told Phillip that Blake had burned it. Phillip realized he couldn't trust his wife and did everything he could to find Beth. He went to see the coroner to ask about Beth's body. The coroner confessed to him that the body in the grave wasn't Beth. Phillip got the coroner's confession on tape and planned to have the grave opened. Blake however stole the tape from Phillip and erased the confession. Again, Phillip was left with nothing. In her last attempt to keep her marriage, Blake had Phillip committed for his "delusions", knowing he was completely sane. One day while Rick Bauer was visiting Phillip, they found Beth on the grounds. Phillip was released from the hospital and brought his divorce from Blake to be with Beth. Blake didn't get over Phillip easily and threatened to ruin his relationship with Beth. She even read Phillip's private journal out loud in front of a crowd at the Country Club, just to spite him. She swore she would get even with Phillip for choosing another woman over her.
Blake then got involved with Phillip's brother Alan-Michael. Alan-Michael didn't know that Blake was still sleeping with Gary and Gary didn't know that Blake was sleeping with Alan-Michael. Eventually Alan-Michael heard rumours about Blake and Gary, but Blake denied the whole thing and told him there was nothing sexual between her and Gary, and that Gary was unstable. Gary wanted to marry Blake but she had no real feelings for him. Desperate to hold on to the Spaulding fortune, Blake falsified a pregnancy test to trap Alan-Michael into marrying her. Unfortunately for Blake, Harley got it on tape. Gary then stole the tape from Harley. Blake realized that if she didn't do what Gary wanted her to do, he would show Alan-Michael the tape. Blake then decided to blackmail Gary. She found out about Gary's double dealings in the past and decided to use it against him if he would cause any troubles between her and Alan-Michael. At this time, Phillip was going to jail for the murder of Neil Everest when it was really Gary who was guily. Blake knew that Gary had killed Neil and could have saved Phillip from the murder charges, but she kept her fat mouth shut just to safe her own skin.
Alan-Michael however was thrilled when Blake told him she was pregnant with his child. They got married despite Gary's threats. During their honeymoon in Costa Verde, Alan-Michael was kidnapped. Beliving Gary was behind it, Blake shot him. Instead of turning her to the police he decided to hold it over her head. Blake's parents then fled to Costa Verde and saved Alan-Michael. Gary was indead behind the kidnapping, but Blake couldn't turn him over to the police beacause if she would, Gary would tell Alan-Michael that Blake faked the pregnancy. She payed her way into a hospital and there, she faked a miscarriage. Gary however continued the threats. He even cut off the brakes on Alan-Michael's car. Blake continued the lies. She grew increasingly jealous of Alan Michael's close friendship with Harley. Her insecurity builds when she cannot fit in with Alan Michael's family. Blake starts having nightmares that Gary will kill Alan-Michael. She decided to kill Gary. Gary summoned Blake to the park that fateful night. Alan-Michael knew that something was wrong and followed her. A furious Blake tried to shoot Gary but hit Alan-Michael instead.
While Alan-Michael languished in a coma, Blake was institutionalized for observation. Gary broke her out of the hospital and took her to an abandoned warehouse, holding her for four million dollars ransom. Alan-Michael came out of the coma just in time to say that Blake shot him accidentally and he and Mallet rescused her. Before Gary went to jail for the explosion at the Towers, he told Alan-Michael that Blake was never pregnant. Alan-Michael later found out that Blake knew all along that Gary was the one who killed Neil not Phillip and didn't say anything. Alan-Michael realized what a motivated bitch Blake really was so he filed for a divorce immediately. Blake first didn't want to give him the divorce but she had a change of hearts. With time, Blake and Alan-Michael became friends again, and he somewhat forgave her for her duplicity. They started working together on a big project at Spaulding. Alan-Michael started seeing Harley again making Blake jealous as hell. Blake was determined to get Alan-Michael back and tried many things to hold on to him. Alan-Michael of course had no romantic feelings for Blake, but that sure didn't stop her. Blake of course was mean as a snake to Harley. I guess Harley wasn't any better herself.
Blake then learned that Hart Jessup, was Roger's son. She was less then pleased to find out she had a grown brother and felt she had to prove to her father that she was better than Hart. Hart tried to be nice to Blake but she didn't want anything to do with him and put him down every chance she got. At this time Blake met Frank Cooper. They became friends and eventually they started dating. Frank however had feelings for Eleni Andros and he and Blake decided to be friends and nothing more. Frank wasn't in luck though because Eleni started dating Alan-Michael. Both Frank and Blake were left behind and very bitter. One would think that Blake had moved on and forgotten all about Alan-Michael, but she was as determined as ever to get him back. The victim of her many schemes was Eleni. Blake called immigration trying to get Eleni deported but she didn't succeed because Alan-Michael married her on the spot. Blake than slept with Frank Cooper on the rebound. She was still thinking about Alan-Michael though. She tried to seduce him again and again but he told her he only wanted Eleni.
Blake then lost her job at Spaulding because of Holly's interference. Blake blamed her mother for all her troubles and planned to get back at her. She knew that Holly loved Ross Marler, so she decided to seduce him, in order to hurt Holly. Blake tried to get Ross's attention in many ways including skinny dipping at the Country Club pool and kissing him at a carnival after giving him a five dollar bill. Eventually Ross and Blake got involved but Ross wanted to keep the affair secret. Holly found out however and got furious. Blake fell deep in love with Ross and wanted to move in with him but he wanted to take things slowly. Furious Blake then slept with Alan-Michael but the next day she moved in with Ross. Ross found out about Alan-Michael but he forgave her. In 1994, they finally got married. They were very happy together but then Ross's ex-flame Amanda arrived in Springfield. When Blake saw her husband kissing Amanda, she got drunk and slept with Rick Bauer. Blake then discovered that she was pregnant. She gave birth to twins--one Ross's and one Rick's.
Unfortunately for Blake, Annie Dutton found out about the twins. For fear of Annie telling Ross about the babies, Blake was a slave to Annie's demands, and looked into Ross' confidential files and tapped their phones to find out information on Reva. At the hospital, Rick blurted out to Ross that one of the twins was his. Ross and Blake broke up once again and didn't reconcile for a long time. It was later discovered that both the twins were Ross's. Blake begged Ross to forgive her and eventually he did. They decided to start again from the beginning and so they did. They were very happy for a while. Then Blake cheated on Ross again, this time with Ben Warren. Ben was Ross's half-brother. Unable to admit her true feelings for Ben, she finally broke down when Ben decided to leave town. Once she realized what they had done, she began to tearfully regret it and Ross walked in. In an attempt to shoot Ben, he accidentally shot Blake.
Since then Blake and Ross have tried and failed at restoring their relationship. After the shooting Blake was paralyzed and could not get out of a wheelchair unassisted. Ross believed Ben had raped Blake and she was feeling guilty about lying to him, the doctors said that her paralysis was psychological. Blake finally confessed to Ross about her consenting to the tryst with Ben thinking that it would ease her conscious and she would again be able to walk. The only thing that happened was that her husband left her for good and threatened to take custody of her children. Blake did walk again, eventually but it wasn't until she saw that Ben needed her, he was in danger of drowning after the stalker poisoned him and left him in a tub filling up with water fast. After that Blake and Ben were chummier and they eventually came to an understanding. After Blake uncovered information about Ben's abusive upbringing, she finally let her guard down and fell for him. Blake and Ben made plans go to Paris together. Blake came in to find her mother, Holly-the Nursery Rhyme Stalker- ripping her clothes to shreds. Blake and Ross seemed to get closer in their quest to help her mother. Unfortunately it wasn't enough and around the time Holly was released from a mental hospital; Ross and Blake divorced.
Soon after their divorce they were trapped in Blake's bathroom and had one passionate day of lovemaking and Blake found her pregnant. Thinking Ross regretted making love to her and believing him to be involved with her mother, Blake decided to keep her pregnancy a secret from them. Trying to keep her condition from Ross, Blake went off to the Spaulding cabin. To fight her boredom, she started writing a novel and found that she enjoyed doing it. Blake accidentally left part of her manuscript at Ross's. When she learned that Holly had found it and wanted to serialize the novel in the Journal, Blake agreed. While the boys were visiting her at Christmas he suddenly went into labor. Unable to call for help, Blake struggled to get up and go to the hospital when suddenly Ross walked in the cabin. Unable to lie to the man she loved, Blake admitted the truth and told him the child was his. Ross then delivered his daughter, Clarissa (named after the heroine in Blake's story) and brought Blake home with him. After finding out that she was mistaken about Ross and her mother's relationship, Blake and Ross reaffirmed their love for one another. Personally, I really like Blake and I don't think Guiding Light would be the same without her.
