When Alexandra Spaulding arrived in Springfield in 1984, she was being played by Beverlee McKinsey (pictured here). Then in 1992, Beverlee went away. Marj Dusay took over the role of Alexandra Spaulding in 1993 but went away in 1997. In November 1998, Alexandra returned to Springfield, played by Marj again. She left again in 1999 though. In September 2002, Alexandra returned once again, played by Joan Collins this time. Alexandra has two sons (twins in fact), Nick McHenry and Lujack. Alexandra is the daughter of Brandon Spaulding and the sister of Alan and Amanda Spaulding. Alexandra was previously married to Leo Von Halkein and Roger Thorpe. She was also previously involved with Eric Luvonaczek (Nikc and Lujack's father) and Hawk Shayne.

When Alexandra arrived in Springfield for the first time, she was seeking revenge against her brother who had destroyed her relationship with Eric. Alexandra got revenge by helping Phillip and Beth stay together when Alan was determined to break them up. Alex also revealed Alan's part in trying to get Bradley out of Springfield. Alan and Alex have always been very competitive. When Alexandra found her son after a long search, he didn't want to accept her as his mother. But after much convincing and a lot of patience he finally did. Alexandra always said that it was the best time of her life. Well, at that time she didn't know she had another son out there. Beth got engaged to Lujack and they were planning on getting married when someone kidnapped Beth. Lujack, Kyle Sampson and Kurt Corday found out where she was. She was on board a ship in middle of nowhere. Lujack saved her but he unfortunately didn't make it. It was very sad for Alex to see her only child die right there in front of her, in fact I don't think Alex ever got over it.

In 1987 Alexandra got involved with H.B. Lewis. H.B. even proposed to her. At this time Alex had just found out that Joshua (H.B.'s son)was the father of Reva's baby. Josh and Reva however thought the baby was Kyle Sampson's. When Alex found out otherwise, she didn't tell anyone because Alan had told her not to. Alan thought he could hang on to Reva by keeping the truth for himself. At this time Alex was also pushing H.B. into merging Lewis with Spaulding. The merger plan was originally Phillip's plan. In 1988, Alex and H.B. broke up. H.B. left town to be with Billy and Alex decided to concentrate on business.

Alex then went to Venuzuela with Fletcher Reade. The plane crased and they got stranded on a deserted island. Soon they fell in love. A big storm came and Alex disappeared. Fletcher thought she was dead. Fletcher was saved by Johnny and Chelsea but Alex was left behind. She was saved by a man named Adam Malik. Alex stayed with Adam for awhile and he was very good to her. Then Fletcher found out that Alex was still alive. He found the island again and brought Alex to Springfield again. They continued their affair. Then Adam shoved up at Alexandra's house. He was in legal troubles so he asked Alex to help him. She hid him in the cellar but Fletcher found him and thought they were having an affair. Adam then turned out to be Roger Thorpe. Alex fell in love with him and they got married. Their marriage was a disaster. Everyone hated Roger and tried to warn Alex about him, but she wouldn't hear of it. Then Alex discovered that Roger was cheating on her with Mindy Lewis and was embezzling millions from Spaulding. Accepting that she wasn't going to put Roger behind bars, Alex humiliated Roger publicly for being the gold digger and social climber that he was. They quickly divorced and Roger lost all his assets at Spaulding due to the embezzlement. .

In 1991, Mindy found Alexandra's other son, Nick McHenry working at a newspaper in New York. When Mindy decided to return to Springfield, Nick followed her. Nick met Alexandra who tried to convince him he was her long lost son. Nick didn't want to believe her but eventually he had to accept the truth about his mother. Alexandra soon gave him a job at Spaulding and they became pretty close. Of course it made Alexandra furiouse that her son was seeing Mindy Lewis, the woman that ruined her marriage to Roger. She did everything she could to keep Mindy away from Nick, even went to Roger for help, but nothing worked. Eventually she gave up and gave Nick and Mindy her blessing. Eventually Alexandra left Springfield. She went to Europe to stay with Nick. Nick was now involved with Susan who had HIV. In 1998 Alexandra decided to return to Springfield to make sure Spaulding was being managed proparly. She left again in early 1999's but came back again in 2002. I'm very excited to see how Joan collins will affect Guiding Light. Stay tuned.
