Alan-Michael has been portrayed by three different actors. the first Alan-Michael was Carl Tye Evans and he was Alan-Michael from 1987 to 1990. The next Alan-Michael was the popular Rick Hearst (pictured here). Rick was Alan-Michael from 1990 to 1996. The third one was Michael Dietz and he was Alan-Michael from 1996 to 1997. When Alan-Michael arrived in Springfield he befriended Cameron Stewart and Dinah Marler. Cameron was dating Harley Cooper and Alan-Michael was dating Dinah. Alan-Michael hated Harley and did everything he could to make her life a living hell, disappointing Dinah a great deal. Dinah eventually became involved with Cameron's personal problems and that made Alan-Michael very jealous. Dinah eventually left Springfield and so did Cameron. Now Alan-Michael and Harley were all alone. To everyone's surprise, they soon fell in love and even made plans to get married.

Alan and Phillip however didn't like Harley very much and did everything they could to prevent her from marrying Alan-Michael. They were sure that she was only a gold digger and would eventually hurt him. Phillip tried to seduce Harley but found out that she wasn't so bad after all. She and Alan-Michael then got married. Harley soon became obsessed with the baby she gave up for adoption a long time ago. Alan-Michael then started sleeping with Blake Marler and Harley started seducing her old boyfriend, Dylan Lewis. Alan-Michael and Harley found out that they weren't meant for each other and got a divorce. Alan-Michael kept seeing Blake and soon they were married. At this time Blake was faking a pregnancy in order to hold on to the Spaulding fortune. She later faked a miscarriage. When Alan-Michael found out that she had been lying to him about the pregnancy, he finally filed for a divorce.

Alan-Michael's next romance was Eleni Andros. Eleni was working at the diner and was actually in love with Frank. The reason she was dating Alan-Michael was because she was trying to make Frank jealous. She then got married to Alan-Michael but only to stay in the country. Alan-Michael didn't realize that Eleni was in love with Frank, at least not at the biginning, but when Eleni became pregnant with Frank's baby, he finally divorced her. Alan-Michael then swore of love and marriage but then he met Lucy Cooper! Lucy and Alan-Michael started dating but it didn't work out and eventually they broke up. They decided to be friends however and Alan-Michael gave her a job as his secretary at Spaulding. Lucy then fell in love with a guy named Brent Lawrence. Brent was also working at Spaulding. Alan-Michael then realized how much he really loved Lucy and tried to win her back but she refused.

The evil Brent however raped Lucy. Alan-Michael stood by her through the whole thing, but Brent left town for awhile. But then he appeared again disguised as a woman named Marion. He then kidnapped Lucy, holding her hostage. Alan-Michael however saved her and Brent went to a mental institution. Now they were finally free of him and could get on with their lives. They got married and went to Florida on their honeymoon. When they came back, they ran Spaulding for awhile but they eventually decided to move to a small cottage on a hill. They left Guiding Light and haven't been back since.
